Inaugural Kalamunda Shire Prayer DinnerMonday, July 30, 2012
Hong Kong's first female judge Barbara Chan will speak at the inaugural Kalamunda Shire Prayer Dinner on Friday 17 August, 7 pm, at Hartfield Country Club, Forrestfield.
As one of the first woman judges appointed to the bench in the Judiciary of Hong Kong, Barbara tried thousands of cases, first as a criminal judge, subsequently as a family court judge and lastly as civil suit judge. Some of the cases she tried made international headlines and she enjoyed a reputation of being a strict, yet compassionate and fair, judge.
The shire prayer dinner is a great opportunity for representatives from the local community to unite and pray for our families, government, services, education providers and businesses.
This inaugural event for Kalamunda Shire is held on the same day as the Governor’s Prayer Breakfast Western Australia (GPBWA). The GPBWA has grown over the years to become a major annual event now attracting 1000 people at the Grand Ballroom, Burswood. Organisers this year were keen to support a follow-on event and the combined churches of Kalamunda gladly took it on. FamilyVoice, with its Perth office in Kalamunda, has happily partnered in this event, for we share the same passion to pray for our families, governing authorities and related public services. It’s exciting that the Kalamunda Shire and a local Kalamunda business (Benchmark Consultants) are right behind it too.
Just as Barbara saw great miracles and changes in people’s lives by God’s power and her application of faith in prayer, we hope to see the hearts of many turn to God through this. As we pray for our civic leaders, we seek God’s blessing for them and for our community. We’d love the Kalamunda Shire Prayer Dinner to also grow to become a major event, with Christians united in prayer to incline our neighbourhood and our nation to follow Jesus. But we need your involvement in this!
Tickets are $45 per head and available from HillSide Church on 9359 2777 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Please make a booking to attend!
