Q2 - School bullying
Bullying of any kind is never acceptable. But the Safe Schools Coalition Australia “anti-bullying” program normalises homosexual and transgender behaviour. It could increase identity confusion, and has been linked with reverse bullying. By contrast, programs such as the CASSE Peaceful Schools program are successfully addressing the root causes of all bullying.
Would you recommend that schools replace the Safe Schools Coalition Australia program with a program that encourages respect and courtesy for all?
|Christian Democratic Party
Labor will look at all programs which reduce bullying in our schools. Reducing all forms of bullying in our schools is a priority for NSW Labor.
Liberal - National Party
The NSW Liberals & Nationals are committed to supporting schools to address all forms of bullying. The Safe Schools Coalition is funded and coordinated by the Federal Government. Under our Local Schools, Local Decisions policy, principals in NSW public schools have the authority to implement programs that best meet the needs of their students and school communities. This may include Safe School Coalition, CASSE Peaceful Schools, or another program.
We would not support any legislation which attacks the safety and rights of LGBTQI children and teens under the guise of being "anti-bullying." Such programs are destructive and psychologically damaging, and are directly responsible for the current suicide epidemic amongst LGBTQI people. We reject utterly the assertion that so-called "identity confusion" is to be avoided at all costs, and the assertion that this results in "reverse bullying." Respect and courtesy for the lives and identity of LGBTQI people is part and parcel of respect and courtesy for all.
