The deceptively named Consent to Medical Treatment and Palliative Care (End of Life Arrangements) Amendment Bill 2010 has been introduced in the SA House of Assembly by Labor MP Hon Stephanie Key and in the Legislative Council by Greens MP Hon Mark Parnell. Mr Parnell’s previous euthanasia bill failed 11-9 last November, but there are some new MPs in the Council since the election. Independent MP Bob Such introduced a rival Voluntary Euthanasia Bill 2010 in the House of Assembly in June.
Kids need a mum and a dad! Please help defeat Clover Moore's new bill which would allow same-sex couple adoption. On 24 June 2010, Independent MP Clover Moore introduced the Adoption Amendment (Same Sex Couples) Bill in the NSW Legislative Assembly. It would change our adoption laws to allow homosexual or lesbian couples to adopt NSW babies and children. NSW Labor Premier Kristina Keneally has allowed a conscience vote, but says she will vote for the bill. Only urgent action from NSW voters can defeat this bill and allow adopted children their right to have both a mum and a dad.
Help defend marriage. Until now marriage - the union of one man and one woman to the exclusion of all others, voluntarily entered into for life - has been the only couple relationship that could be registered under New South Wales law. The reason for this unique treatment of marriage is that: (a) only marriage provides the best environment for raising children - stability plus complementary male and female role models (Mum and Dad); (b) men and women complement each other in marriage - benefiting each other and society.
